Sharon Fox Cranston, SCA

Art is an undeniable necessity, an intrinsic element that defines my life. From my first Crayola – I was hooked.

My early work was illustrative in nature which enabled me to develop a solid understanding of drawing and composition. Currently, my focus is on the texture, colour and rhythms of the rural landscape.

Acrylic paint and professional soft pastel are my preferred mediums. My pastel work is often painted over a watercolour underpainting.

Over the past few years I have had the opportunity to study under such accomplished artists as Albert Handell, Richard McKinley, Teresa Saia, Colleen Howe and Andrew McDermott.

I particularly enjoy taking my art outdoors and have painted many of my works "en plein air" in Canada, France, Italy, the UK and USA.

I am a member of the Society of Canadian Artists, The Federation of Canadian Artists, Landscape Artists International, Pastel Artists Canada and the Rideau Lakes Artist Association.

My work hangs in private and corporate collections both here and abroad.
